Interview with Rachelle Ashton our Senior Recruitment Consultant
OUR INTERVIEW WITH RACHELLE ASHTON WHO HAS A RAPID AND ESTABLISHED REPUTATION AS THE “GO TO” PERSON FOR NOTORIOUSLY CHALLENGING, HIGH PACED AND HIGH TURNOVER CLIENTS WITHIN THE GOVERNMENT, CONSTRUCTION, MANUFACTURING, WAREHOUSING AND LOGISTICS SECTORS.
Why you chose or found yourself in recruitment?
“I was working within the Logistics industry as a Customer Service Supervisor working with an agency for staffing. I then learnt the hard way, realising that all I was being supplied with was “bums in seats” instead of staff who really wanted to work. Unfortunately, providing me with lots of experience in firing people so thought; I should practice hiring them! While learning the industry I knew I wanted to do more than just fill a job, I focused on building long lasting relationships with both candidate and client, whom I feel are equally important in this industry.”
Why and how did you arrive at Trusted Labour?
“I’m employed by Mills Resources and work on the Trusted Labour (blue collar) side of the business. After being made redundant mid-2016, I spent a bit of time working out “where to now?” And with no desire to work for any of the large agencies who have a “churn and burn” culture! I decided to focus on a smaller agency, preferably where I would have the opportunity to help them grow and develop over time. Originally Darryl (the Founding Director of Mills) was advertising for a Recruitment Consultant for a client, I decided to apply and then it began, Darryl and I started talking via LinkedIn & phone conversations and after 3 interviews here I am! ”
What are the benefits and your requirements of working from home?
“Being that I am somewhat self-disciplined and rather large on delivering my commitments to both candidates and clients working from home works well for me. I must, however, learn the necessity to switch off, as I have the habit of working until all my work is complete, even if this means 12 -14 hours days.”
What are your values and ethics towards your line of work and the company you work for?
“I always ensure to do more than just supply arms & legs or a bum in a seat for a position, even if at times this means the jobs will take a little longer to fill. My favourite quote is “don’t over promise then under deliver”. My honesty and transparency have always been an important and integral selling point and I believe this offers a point of difference when clients & candidates are asked what they really value.”
